Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major HS2 project in Birmingham. You will support safe and efficient delivery of construction activities, focusing on planning, permit control, temporary works coordination and excavation safety.

Requirements include a civil engineering degree or equivalent, CSCS card, and proven experience on major infrastructure projects with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience as Site Engineer on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Permits to Dig, Temporary Works, CAT Scanning / Utility Avoidance, Daily Diaries & Site Documentation, Construction Planning & Coordination.
• Experience around excavation, utilities, earthworks, highways, drainage or structures.
• CSCS Card and ability to interpret drawings.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing and issuing Permits to Dig in accordance with project procedures.
• Carrying out and recording CAT & Genny scanning prior to excavation works.
• Supporting the management and implementation of Temporary Works requirements on site.
• Maintaining accurate daily diaries and site records.
• Assisting with short-term planning and coordination of daily construction activities.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project programmes.
• Supporting quality assurance processes, inspections, and site documentation.
• Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and project-specific procedures.
• Identifying and resolving technical and operational issues on site.
