Job description

Are you a Plant Operative with experience in the production of Concrete, Readymix, or Asphalt and eager for your next role? Then please read on!

We are currently recruiting a Plant Operative to join the fantastic Readymix ‘RMX’ team working on one of Europe’s largest current infrastructure projects.

Safety and operational standards are fundamental to this role, with key responsibilities including cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs, and performance improvement.

Main Responsibilities

The Plant Operative will work within the RMX operations on our plant, ensuring compliance with business policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements.

Key tasks and responsibilities (not exhaustive):

  • Delivery of toolbox talks
  • Manage all aspects of daily production, including operational costs and stock control
  • Efficient manufacture of concrete, controlling standard deviation and cement contents
  • Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
  • Take responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
  • Maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
  • Batch concrete to meet customer needs while adhering to internal quality standards
Key Stakeholders

You will liaise with:

  • Business Manager, Area Director, Health & Safety team, Procurement and support teams, National Logistics team, Area Operations teams, Area Commercial teams, Area HR Manager, Industry Bodies, Customers
Candidate Requirements

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in a similar ‘heavy’ industry, as product training will be provided.

This role is a DAYS position, but flexibility is essential as we operate nights and weekends to meet production needs. Overtime is available.

To succeed, you should have experience and knowledge of:

  • Experience in plant operations
  • Experience in a Readymix / Aggregates environment is highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
  • Understanding of production processes
  • Knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
Skills
  • Ability to identify and implement site and process improvements
  • Ability to recognize customer needs and communicate effectively to enhance service
  • Ability to multitask and manage change
