Job Description:

About the Role

Managing projects end to end in support of APG's simplification strategy as part of the Group Transformation Office. Initial priority will be to support HR transformation projects, acting as an interface between HR project teams, broader APG transformation, and business stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a selection of medium-sized HR-related transformation projects, including HR tooling, HR process change, and governance of HR elements within broader transformation initiatives.
  • Build and manage small to medium cross-functional project teams in a matrix environment.
  • Set up projects independently, including objective setting and governance arrangements, using group documentation and processes.
  • Create detailed project plans and roadmaps in collaboration with project teams.
  • Identify, document, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies (internal and external).
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, quality, and budget.
  • Adjust plans as necessary while protecting project goals.
  • Create project status reports and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders and the wider business, tailoring updates as needed.
  • Resolve competing demands and conflicts within projects.
  • Support the creation of project business cases.
  • Manage project budgets accurately.
Impact and Contributions
  • Support APG in delivering its post-merger simplification strategy, helping HR streamline tooling and processes.
  • Organize a portfolio of HR projects, building teams and motivation for successful delivery.
  • Ensure HR projects are executed collaboratively with the broader business and aligned with strategic goals.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members and promote project governance culture within HR.
  • Champion continuous improvement in HR Operations through project delivery.
Experience and Attributes we'd like to see
  • Based in the UK with frequent travel to London (1-2 days/week) and periodic travel to other European locations.
  • Proven project management skills with significant experience.
  • Experience in rolling out business tools and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of HR processes and compliance requirements.
  • Motivated, proactive, and involved at all project levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and team management skills, emphasizing ‘people over process’.
  • Ability to foster alignment and collaboration within teams and the broader business.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing senior management decisions.
  • Good business acumen and ability to apply it to project outcomes.
Nice to have experience
  • Managing projects within a strategic portfolio.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Managing projects using JIRA.
