  • Experience conducting policy audits and managing compliance risks.
  • Ability to translate legal and policy requirements into practical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead audits and reviews of HR policies to ensure legal compliance, consistency and alignment with values and best practice.
  • Identify policy gaps, inconsistencies and compliance risks, recommending practical solutions.
  • Draft, update and implement HR policies in response to legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Monitor UK and relevant European employment law developments and assess their impact on HR policies and practices.
  • Develop and maintain policy governance, including policy matrices, review schedules, version control and approval processes.
  • Partner with Legal, Data Protection and HR stakeholders to ensure policies are robust and aligned with compliance requirements.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to managers and HR colleagues on policy interpretation and application.
  • Support the communication and implementation of new policies through guidance and training materials.
  • Monitor policy effectiveness through audits and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare governance updates for senior stakeholders and contribute to GDPR activities.

HR Policy & Compliance Advisor (Immediate Start)

Annapurna HR have been engaged to hire a HR Policy & Compliance Advisor to join a leading financial services institution to support the development, governance and continuous improvement of the businesses people policies and practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong UK employment law knowledge and experience in HR policy development, compliance and governance. You will take a strategic and practical approach to reviewing and strengthening the organisation's policy framework, ensuring policies are legally informed, accessible, consistent and aligned with organisational values and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive audits and reviews of HR policies, procedures and guidance to ensure legal compliance, consistency and alignment with organisational values and best practice.
  • Identify policy gaps, inconsistencies and compliance risks, recommending practical and proportionate solutions.
  • Draft, update and implement HR policies in response to legislative, regulatory and organisational changes.
  • Monitor UK and relevant European employment law developments and assess their impact on HR policies and practices.
  • Develop and maintain effective policy governance, including policy matrices, review schedules, version control and approval processes.
  • Partner with Legal, Data Protection and HR stakeholders to ensure policies are robust, practical and aligned with wider compliance requirements.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to managers and HR colleagues on policy interpretation, application and escalation.
  • Support the communication and implementation of new and revised policies through guidance, FAQs, toolkits and training materials.
  • Monitor policy effectiveness through audits, feedback and employee relations trends, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare governance and compliance updates for senior stakeholders and contribute to wider HR projects, GDPR activities and organisational initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies within a UK employment environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and employment law principles.
  • Awareness of relevant European employment legislation, directives and case law.
  • Experience conducting policy audits and identifying compliance, governance and operational risks.
  • Experience establishing or maintaining policy governance frameworks and review processes.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and policy requirements into clear, practical guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk identification.
