Job description

Our People Managers play a crucial role in the success of our Sites by creating and driving effective people strategies and operations. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the overall site operation. If you seek a role where you can create impact and foster change, this position is ideal.

Managing an onsite People Team (up to 8 members), the People Manager will partner with the Site and Leadership teams to implement first-class HR practices aligned with Morrisons' vision and ways of working. This fast-paced and challenging role requires attention to detail and credibility. Due to the nature of our logistics operations, this role is fully site-based with no hybrid working option. While flexible working hours are available, full-time on-site presence is required to support the team and business needs. Reporting to the Senior People Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading and managing the People and site teams to ensure a high-performing, motivated, and trained workforce.
  2. Developing and implementing a site-specific people plan that aligns with local needs and the Morrisons framework.
  3. Fostering a culture of respect where Managers engage, listen to, and respond to their team members.
  4. Coaching and supporting management and the People team to improve performance and develop talent across the site.
  5. Ensuring all ER, IR, and Payroll processes comply with legal standards and company policies.
  6. Managing temporary and permanent labour supplies, working with relevant parties to fill vacancies while ensuring a positive candidate and colleague experience.
  7. Driving talent development through development and succession plans for salaried colleagues.
  8. Ensuring the right people are in the right roles at the right time and prioritizing training at the leadership level.
  9. Proactively maintaining the health and safety of colleagues and customers.
  10. Identifying opportunities for cost savings and collaborating with operational teams to meet labour budgets and efficiencies.

About you

You should also be eager to advance your career while developing our People team. Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent HR management experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment, preferably in Manufacturing or Logistics
  • Deep knowledge of employment law
  • Experience handling complex employee relations cases
  • Experience in a unionized environment
  • Ability to coach and influence at all levels
  • Strong communication skills, including group presentations
  • Proficiency in IT, including MS Office and HR systems
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to travel to support other sites and projects
