HR Payroll Officer - 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

We are seeking a diligent and experienced HR Payroll Officer to support the Solihull plant. This role involves assisting the payroll manager with payroll data, reporting, managing the Time & Attendance system, and providing HR and operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately collate, validate, and submit payroll information for all employees in a timely manner.
- Manage weekly Time & Attendance reports, collaborating with Finance and department leads to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Support Line Managers during organizational changes and assist with related processes.
- Provide training on payroll processes and the Time & Attendance system.
- Investigate Time & Attendance system queries, liaising with providers and IT teams, and escalate issues as needed.
- Build strong relationships with Line Managers to ensure smooth coordination across the plant.
- Assist with ad-hoc data consolidation projects, maintaining system accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, and customer needs.
- Maintain and update HRIS data for accuracy and compliance.
- Facilitate effective communication across the plant to support smooth operations.
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics during daily, weekly, and monthly reviews.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new HR initiatives aligned with business strategy.
- Support employee relations issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Update and maintain employee records in HRIS and physical files, supporting GDPR and digitalisation efforts.
- Provide coverage for HR projects and activities as required.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, legal, and compliance standards, including HSE safety standards.
- Take on additional projects and tasks as assigned by management.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- CIPD Level 3 or 5 qualification, or a relevant degree (desirable)
- Proven experience at the HR Officer level, especially in payroll and data management.
- Experience handling high-volume payroll data and generating detailed reports.
- Intermediate Excel skills for comparing large data sets and preparing reports.
- Experience administering Time and Attendance Systems.
- Strong ability to consolidate payroll information from multiple sources.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
- Empathy and active listening skills to support employees effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and independent decision-making.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
