Job description

Who are we?

Howden is a collective – a group of talented and passionate people all around the world. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 18,000 employees spanning over 100 countries.

People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

Here at Howden, we are transforming the way we deliver HR services to our business and this is an exciting time to join our evolving HR function as we look to drive commercially aligned and strategic HR support to our stakeholders.

Reporting to the Global HR Operations Programme Lead, the Programme Coordinator will focus on supporting the delivery of key strategic policy and process initiatives, as well as the deployment of Workday globally, helping to ensure alignment and consistency across countries and businesses. You will work alongside other members of the programme team to track the status of programme and project deliverables and milestones, risk and issue management, support with escalations and coordination of regular programme and project level reporting, and coordination of programme governance arrangements.

The successful incumbent will bring with them the prior experience of working in fast-paced, highly commercial, programme environments. Additionally, you will have a willingness to use initiative, the ability to work well as part of a team and a keen eye for detail.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Global HR Operations Programme Lead with the management of programme and project documents, such as activity pipeline, DRAID logs, programme / project plans and reporting.
  • Will act as the second point of contact for the initiative leads throughout implementations.
  • Work closely and manage the relationship with our third-party providers on their deliverables and timelines.
  • Work with Programme / Project Managers and Workstream Leads to ensure project updates are received in a timely manner and project documentation is kept up to date.
  • Ensure all correct meetings are scheduled and have a clear purpose, whist tracking any actions / updates / decisions raised in meetings.
  • Support the Programme lead in ensuring programme governance is upheld to a high standard, assisting with creating status reports and deliverables tracking.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in Programmes and coordinating multiple projects at one time.
  • Prince2 or equivalent is advantageous.
  • The ability to understand dependencies across all areas of the programme and comprehend how activity in one project can impact others.
  • Exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail, with a proactive attitude towards their work.
  • Takes personal responsibility to deliver results.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A successful candidate will be able to tailor their communication style to suit the audience.
  • Ability to recognise, prioritise and manage conflicting priorities, and appropriately escalate where required.
  • Knowledge of Workday deployments is desirable but not essential.
What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond

Reasonable adjustments

We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations at Howden to ensure that our positions align well with your needs. Besides the usual adjustments such as software, IT, and office setups, we can also accommodate other changes such as flexible hours* or hybrid working*.
