Spark Somerset is seeking a proactive HR Officer to join their team on a permanent part-time basis. In this role, you will provide essential HR support, ensuring smooth operations and guiding managers on HR practices. Ideal candidates should have a strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and experience in a generalist HR role. The position offers flexible working options along with volunteering leave, fostering a supportive and resilient workplace culture.
We're looking for an experienced, proactive HR Officer.
We re on a mission to help change lives and build healthy, resilient communities in Somerset.
We do this by supporting and championing voluntary and community organisations and providing a range of services, training, and advice. We also believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive and so we work with local partners to provide volunteering opportunities for all.
To help us do this, we re looking for a confident and proactive HR Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. This key role will support the organisation by providing clear, practical HR advice and ensuring our processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Working alongside our Operations Manager, you ll be the go-to person for all things HR, offering guidance to managers, supporting the delivery of team events, maintaining accurate staff records, and ensuring our policies and systems support a happy, productive workplace.
We re looking for someone with strong knowledge of HR practices and UK employment legislation, excellent communication and IT skills, CIPD membership (ideally qualified or working towards it), and demonstrable generalist HR experience covering the key responsibilities of the role.

This is a part-time role working 22.5 hours per week on a permanent contract. The annual salary is GBP28,000 (full time equivalent).
