Somerset Council supports Hybrid working, for this role there will be a requirement to work in County Hall Taunton on a regular basis and to travel around Somerset.
Somerset Council is the second largest unitary authority in the Country which is on a journey of transformation.
We need to build capacity within the HR Advisory Service and require an experienced HR Officer to undertake casework over the next few months.
The HR Officer must be experienced in managing HR Casework and be able to hit the ground running with a varied caseload which may include sickness, grievances and disciplinaries. They will be required to advise on Somerset Council policies alongside protected arrangements under TUPE Regulations. The Officer will provide advisory support to Managers and will also be required to engage with employees and Trade Unions.

The HR Officer must have:
Sustained experience in an Employee Relations operational HR role within a large organisation with a diverse workforce.
Proven experience in managing and advising on complex cases including, but not exclusive to sickness, disciplinary, grievance and equalities issues. And supporting at Hearings and Appeals as required.
In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and recognised ‘best’ HR practice.
Be able to effectively communicate on complex issues at all levels in an appropriate and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
Relevant degree/ professional qualification or experience
Self motivation, be self reliant and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
