Job summary

MTrec Technical in Sunderland is recruiting an HR Officer to support employee relations, recruitment and UK employment law within a manufacturing environment. You will work as part of a team of HR professionals, delivering end-to-end processes and coaching managers.

You should have CIPD Level 5 or equivalent and at least 3 years in a People/HR Officer role. The role offers a full-time, permanent contract with immediate starts and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Essential CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Over 3 years’ experience in a People/HR Officer role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and case management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage probation, performance, and capability processes end-to-end.
  • Manage absence cases proactively, including welfare reviews and structured action plans.
  • Advise and coach managers on investigations, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Attend and minute formal hearings, ensuring procedural compliance and robust documentation.
  • Provide commercially grounded advice aligned to company policy and UK employment law and assist in development policies.
  • Produce accurate people data reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Deliver end to end support across recruitment, onboarding and early careers initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of HR administration, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Support wider HR projects and business initiatives as required.

MTrec Recruitment are proudly representing our industry leading client in their search for people focused, HR Officer. The position will work as part of a team of HR professionals and provide critical support to the business in areas such as Employee relations, recruitment, and UK employment Law.

This role is open to those with a level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent.

The job you will do:

About you:
  • It is essential that you are CIPD qualified to a minimum of level 5 or hold equivalent qualifications.

  • Ideally you will have experience working within a manufacturing environment.

  • Over 3 years’ experience in a People/HR Officer role

  • Experience leading disciplinary, grievance, and capability investigations end-to-end

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law

  • Experience facilitating workplace mediation and conflict resolution - desirable

  • Mental Health First Aider accreditation - desirable

  • High standards of documentation and case management

  • You are calm under pressure, solutions-focused and confident having difficult conversations when required.

  • You understand that strong people management protects both culture and performance, and you always operate with discretion and professionalism.
