Our client is a North East based Engineering company seeking an experienced HR professional to join their team. This is a standalone role suitable for a candidate with a broad HR background looking for a busy, operational, generalist position.

You will deliver professional and proactive support to the company, advising on human resources functions aligned with business needs. Your responsibilities include providing expert advice on employment matters, policy application, and interpretation. Additionally, you will support the company's sister site and collaborate with the wider management team. The role also involves training responsibilities within the business.

The primary focus will be on mentoring apprentices, ensuring their work rotation and submissions are on track. You will also handle training for the wider employee population, including booking and recording events and renewal dates.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure HR policies are in place, legally compliant, accessible, and user-friendly for all employees.
  2. Provide expert advice on employment terms and conditions.
  3. Maintain and improve employee relations.
  4. Manage employee relation issues.
  5. Oversee the recruitment process across the company.
  6. Assist with employee development, team building, and apprenticeships.
  7. Maintain accurate HR records, trends, and reports.
  8. Serve as the key contact for the company's apprenticeship partner.
  9. Mentor and develop apprentices throughout their journey.
  10. Support broader training needs in collaboration with department managers.
  11. Review and improve key HR-related business processes.
Criteria:
  • Degree-level education or equivalent, with professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
  • Level 5 CIPD qualification or higher.
  • Proven experience as a HR generalist.
