Westminster Academy is a vibrant and inclusive secondary school located in central London, committed to transforming lives through education. We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead our Human Resources function and help shape a positive, high-performing working culture across the school. Prior experience working within the education sector is essential for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about supporting staff and developing strong people strategies. Reporting to the School Business Director and working closely with the senior leadership team, the HR Manager will have overall responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of HR within the Academy.

The role involves managing the full employee lifecycle – from recruitment and onboarding to staff development, performance management, and employee relations. You will be the key point of contact for HR-related matters, providing expert advice on policy, procedure, and employment law while ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation. As we are a stand-alone academy, you'll be able to operate with a great level of autonomy when making strategic and operational decisions for the benefit of the school.

We are seeking a professional with:


  • a strong background in HR (essential)
  • experience in the education sector (essential)
  • a solid understanding of employment law and HR best practice
  • a CIPD qualification at Level 5 or above (highly desirable) – already completed or willing to undertake once in post
  • excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery will be essential for success in this role (essential).
