Job description

Neutral Digital is seeking a part-time, proactive HR Manager to join our growing team. You'll play a key role in shaping HR processes and fostering a culture that prioritises support and growth for our valued talent. If you're passionate about HR and eager to support in a creative environment, we'd love to meet you!

About The Job
This is a standalone HR Manager position where you’ll shape and lead all aspects of people operations. You’ll partner closely with leadership to build a dedicated, high-calibre team as we enter a period of growth. From recruiting key roles across creative and technical disciplines to developing clear progression frameworks, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a team of ~20–30 core team members, shaping the organisation and fostering a strong, people-first culture.

About You
You’re a proactive, people-focused HR professional who thrives in creative, fast-moving environments. You’re confident owning the full employee lifecycle - from hiring and onboarding to performance and progression - and enjoy building thoughtful processes that balance compliance with culture. This is a new role in the company, so we’re looking for a self-starter - someone who’s excited to take initiative, shape the HR function, and build frameworks that will support a growing team. You’ll be comfortable working independently, owning everything from policies to people strategy, while collaborating closely with leadership to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding
  2. Partner with department heads on recruitment, retention, and team structure
  3. Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies (UK compliance), and employment contracts
  4. Address employee issues, including managing grievances, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures professionally and sensitively
  5. Confidently communicate policy or process changes to the team, whether in writing or during team calls, ensuring clarity and understanding
  6. Manage performance review cycles and individual development plans
  7. Design and implement career progression frameworks (and training programs where needed)
  8. Oversee employee benefits, leave policies, and compensation tracking
  9. Benchmark salaries and provide insight for pay reviews and incentive schemes
  10. Advise on people strategy, organisational planning, and culture alignment
  11. Lead wellbeing and engagement initiatives across the team
  12. Be the main point of contact for our offshore HR team, keeping UK stakeholders aligned
  13. Ensure that freelancer agreements are clearly defined and understood by both the freelancer and the company, maintaining transparent and consistent terms throughout the working relationship.

Skills & Experience

  1. Experience in a standalone or lead HR role, ideally in a creative, tech, or agency environment
  2. Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices
  3. Strategic mindset with practical implementation skills
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  5. Confident working with leadership and external partners
  6. Experience with compensation benchmarking and performance tracking
  7. Some experience recruiting creatives such as designers, 3D artists, or developers, with a basic understanding of their career paths and progression
  8. Tech-savvy and confident using tools like LinkedIn, CharlieHR, Homerun, Slack and Google Sheets to streamline HR-related processes and improve efficiency, with the initiative to research and recommend new platforms when needed
  9. Bonus: A genuine interest in design is a big plus—whether you already have an eye for reviewing creative portfolios or are eager to develop one to help identify talent that aligns with our aesthetic and standards.

What We Offer

  1. Salary: £40,000-£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience (pro-rated based on agreed part-time working hours)
  2. Part-time hours (~20 per week, but negotiable), with flexibility in how those hours are spread across the week - we’re open to finding a rhythm that suits both your schedule and our needs
  3. Fully remote working
  4. 30 days holiday – 22 days annual leave plus UK public holidays (pro-rated)
  5. Contributory pension scheme
  6. Supportive, informal, and creative team culture
  7. Opportunities to shape culture, structure, and strategy in a growing company.

Why join Neutral Digital?
At Neutral Digital, we offer a welcoming and approachable company culture. As we’re in an exciting growth stage, this is a great opportunity for you to be part of a team that’s scaling and evolving. You'll have the chance to work independently, taking ownership of key processes while closely supporting the leadership team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping us attract the best talent to join our team, contributing to an environment where everyone’s skills and ideas can thrive.
