Job description

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager for a leading manufacturing company.

The role

The company is looking for an HR Manager for a site of circa 180 people. The position will report into the Site Director with a dotted line into the VP HR and will supervise one member of staff. The position with play a pivotal role within the Site Leadership Team and be responsible for overseeing all HR activity on site, creating and cultivating an inclusive culture where employees thrive. The role will act as a trusted, strategic business partner to the Site Lead focusing on driving cultural initiatives, performance management, talent acquisition, engagement, retention, learning and development and workforce planning.

Duties will include:

  • Driving HR capability for the site, providing an efficient HR service to the business in line with business needs and providing strong counsel and advice to the Leadership Team and Line Managers across the full spectrum of HR and implementing HR change programmes
  • Overseeing and managing HR administrative support activities and managing employee relations and attendance issues providing coaching to line managers.
  • Driving engagement and collaboration via local site union officials and executing annual Wellbeing and Engagement surveys and delivering trackable action plans.
  • Providing oversight on Apprenticeship/early careers schemes and providing local benefit administration where appropriate and collaborating with payroll shared service function.
  • Keeping up to date with local HR legislation & best practice, developing local and regional policies & procedures.and contributing to the development & implementation of HR programmes at site and annual HR plan.
  • Overseeing HR compliance and governance, providing regular accurate HR data and KPIs including headcount, demographics, absence, gender pay, holiday balances, engagement, talent, wellbeing and engagement.
  • Implementing Corporate initiatives at a local site level and contributing to regional and global HR team projects

The person

  • Proven experience in an HR Manager role, ideally within manufacturing or adjacent industry.
  • A professional and commercial approach to HR.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability influence at all levels.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Highly organised, flexible and able to multitask.
  • Strong understanding of employment law.
  • IT Literate.
  • Ability to operate at all levels, from day-to-day operational tasks to contributing at a strategic level.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
