Job description

Job Title: HR Manager

Salary: £42,000 - 45,000 p.a. + 12.5% pension contribution and other benefits

Location: Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a pivotal role in a small team within a leading arts charity offering a friendly and team-focused culture.

The Henry Moore Foundation was founded by the artist in 1977 to encourage public appreciation of the visual arts. Today we support innovative sculpture projects, devise an imaginative programme of exhibitions and research worldwide, and preserve the legacy of Moore himself: one of the great sculptors of the 20th century, who did so much to bring the artform to a wider audience. The Foundation employs over 100 people working across two sites: Henry Moore Studios & Gardens in Hertfordshire and the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead on day to day HR matters, delivering a professional service across the organisation including recruitment and professional development.
  2. Manage all contractual matters and compliance with employment law and GDPR.
  3. Oversee monthly payroll processing, pensions and other employee benefits.
  4. Support the Chief Operating Officer in HR policy development and the integration of Henry Moore Foundation values and behaviours.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. CIPD qualified or equivalent level of HR management experience within a similar role, ideally in the cultural or not-for-profit sectors.
  2. Full understanding of UK employment law, HR functions and best practices.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Able to prioritise with excellent time management.
  5. Approachable, empathetic and able to deal with any employee issues calmly and swiftly.
  6. Strong organisational and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach.
  7. Experience in payroll processing is highly desirable, along with knowledge of HR software systems - training will be provided on BrightPay/Connect.

The post is based at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, 30 miles north of London in rural East Hertfordshire, mid-way between London and Cambridge. On average, one day per month will be spent at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds. Some homeworking may be considered.

The appointed candidate must be available to take up this role by 14 July 2025.
