Lily Shippen is recruiting an HR Manager for a standalone HR generalist role supporting 42 people across Manchester and Northampton, with offices in both locations and regular site visits to whichever office you aren't based in.

You will own the people strategy, report to the Finance Director, oversee the employee lifecycle, advise the Board on people matters and manage a small Business Support Team across two locations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in HR or with senior stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and manage changing workload.
  • Self-management, resilience and a proactive approach.
  • CIPD qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the whole employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit.
  • Advise the Board and senior management on all people matters.
  • Be a member of the Business Operations Board and provide HR insights.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings reporting HR data with recommendations.
  • Manage employee relations and mitigate legal risk to the business.
  • Ensure policies and processes are legally compliant and consistently applied.
  • Develop and deliver a commercially focussed training plan to drive performance.
  • Line manage the Business Support Team (3 Executive Assistants across two locations).
  • Create and analyse the annual employee engagement survey.

Job description

Our client, a real estate business, is looking for an HR Manager to join their team. This is a standalone, HR generalist role covering 42 people across Manchester and Northampton. You can be based in the Northampton or Manchester office with regular visits to the site you are not based in.

Role outline

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the company’s people strategy. You will report directly to the Finance Director. In addition, you will:

  • Have responsibility for overseeing the whole employee lifecycle, from recruitment through to exit.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Board and senior management team on all people matters.
  • Be a member of the Business Operations Board, you will provide updates and insights on all people and operational matters
  • Attend monthly Board meetings reporting on HR data, highlighting any people risks with clear recommendations.
  • Manage any employee relations matters, whilst mitigating any legal risk to the business.
  • Ensure all employee policies and processes are legally compliant and applied consistently.
  • Develop and deliver a commercially focussed training plan to drive performance.
  • Have line responsibility for managing the Business Support Team which comprises 3 Executive Assistants across two locations.
  • Have responsibility for creating and analysing the annual employee engagement survey

This is a fast-paced environment, and the ideal candidate will have a high level of resilience, drive and determination. You will need to have good, working knowledge of UK employment law, the ability to engage with various stakeholders and manage a varied and changing workload, an aptitude and desire to learn and an ability to self manage.

  • Lateral and clear thinking with a focused approach.
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent desirable
  • People management experience
