Local Care Direct are looking for a HR Manager to provide HR expertise to support managers with effective management of their teams to meet performance targets and business objectives, in line with organisational values and HR policy and processes.
Location: Local Care Direct, Unit 14 Longbow Close, Bradley, Huddersfield, HD2 1GQ
Salary: £43,680 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 (1/2 hour unpaid break). Some flexible working may be required.

Role & Main duties
The HR Manager will ensure managers, in all functions, are provided with the necessary HR expertise to enable effective management of their teams to meet performance targets and business objectives, in line with organisational values and HR policy and processes. They will ensure that robust people policies and processes are developed, implemented and reviewed and are aligned with Local Care Direct
s values, cultural aims and principles. They will ensure provision of professional HR expertise to support efficient and effective delivery of business plans and performance, and that key data on people and workforce matters is gathered, analysed and reported.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with managers and staff across the business.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are followed and appropriate timescales are met.
- Provide specialist advice to managers and staff on people management issues (e.g., conduct, discipline, performance, absence management, contracts, recruitment, other ER matters).
- Handle complex casework, assessing and recommending appropriate courses of action for fair and consistent resolution.
- Review and develop HR policies and procedures to meet changing requirements and comply with employment legislation and Local Care Direct values.
- Support new initiatives and service developments; work with managers to address related issues.
- Design and deliver training for line managers and support their development of HR task competence.
- Support and train new managers in HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Training Officer to ensure induction and core training, maintaining accurate training records; deliver HR element of induction.
- Ensure annual performance and development reviews and personal development plans across the workforce.
- Manage sickness absence data and support managers with policy compliance.
- Manage Occupational Health referrals and Ill Health Retirement applications; ensure NHS Pension compliance.
- Analyse workforce data, absence trends, exit responses; advise on improvements.
- Generate HR reports and metrics to inform decisions and HR strategies.
- Maintain accurate HR records and systems.
- Create and deliver people-centric initiatives to position Local Care Direct as an employer of choice.
- Line manage, support, coach and mentor team members as appropriate.
- Deliver ad-hoc duties as required by the business.

Experience (Essential)
- Significant generalist HR experience (5+ years), managing the employment lifecycle and ER cases
- Experience supporting HR teams to deliver professional HR support
- Experience developing and implementing policies across teams
- Experience working with senior managers on complex staffing issues
- Experience in rapidly changing environments
- Track record of building relationships with managers
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law
Desirable
- Experience creating and delivering training
- Experience managing a team
- Experience with TUPE transfers
Qualifications (Essential)
- CIPD qualified
- GCSE English and Maths (grade 9-4 / A*-C)
