Job description

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our team in Foston, providing expert support across the full employee lifecycle. This hands‑on, business‑facing role will partner with managers, coach leaders, and ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant HR practices.

Salary: £42 500

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 08:30‑17:00

Responsibilities
  • Building strong relationships with managers, supporting workforce planning, succession and skills development.
  • Recruiting & Talent: Coordinating hiring, overseeing onboarding, probation and retention.
  • Employee Relations: Advising on conduct, capability, grievance and absence; leading investigations.
  • Performance Management: Embedding goal setting, reviews and improvement plans.
  • HR Systems: Acting as UKG Ready SME, ensuring compliance, accuracy and reporting.
  • Attendance & Wellbeing: Managing absence, arranging occupational health referrals and promoting employee wellbeing.
  • Compliance & Policies: Promoting DEI, ensuring UK employment law, Right‑to‑Work and GDPR compliance.
  • Training & Development: Identifying needs, supporting learning and enabling succession planning.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Supporting reward, recognition and benchmarking.
  • HR Projects: Leading initiatives to improve processes, people experience and business outcomes.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practice and employee relations.
  • Proficiency in HR systems (UKG preferred) and MS Office.
  • Experience in workforce planning, talent management and organisational development.
  • A CIPD qualification (or working towards) desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
  • A pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach balancing people and business needs.
