Job description

Regional HR Manager - Barnsley / South Yorkshire - travel to Wales and South - £50,000 to £55,000 plus car allowance and excellent benefits.

This is a national leader in services to innovative and complex multi-disciplinary engineering, construction and maintenance services.

Your new role
Reporting to the HR Director, you will join the Regional HR team as one of 4 HR Managers allocated to a 'region'. Your role will be to create strong business partnering relationships with Internal Stakeholders, fully partnering with a geographical area and leading on the delivery of the People Plan through project management, change management and people development activities; in addition to taking responsibility for the line management of one or more direct reports.

You will:

  1. Be seen as a Leader in HR matters by the key stakeholders and leadership team - adding value by having a strong commercial awareness of the business environment both wider and local.
  2. Lead on the development and implementation of HR change projects.
  3. Lead with Union negotiations utilising a strongly developed relationship.
  4. Lead on restructuring projects.
  5. Drive the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda across all areas of responsibility by supporting and encouraging involvement.
  6. Lead on the development and embedding of new HR/business procedures or initiatives, as necessary.
  7. Drive the understanding of the importance of talent management including the utilisation of the succession management process.
  8. Lead on key recruitment activity at a senior level.
  9. Drive understanding with the HR Business Partners and wider business stakeholders about utilising HR Key Performance Indicators to develop programs of activity to eliminate key problem areas in the businesses such as high absence, high labour turnover etc.
  10. Become a key member of the regional/business management teams and attend the management meetings and other relevant meetings.
  11. Define and lead on occupational health programs.

This role is based at head office - you will do regional site visits - 2 a month to Wales (overnight stay) and periodic other location visits - so will suit someone who likes the variety of multisite work. This is a busy role so will suit someone who likes to work at pace to provide a comprehensive HR service.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. The successful applicant will ideally possess a solid background in operational HR support and strategic work.
  2. Ideally from a construction, manufacturing, engineering or similar background.
  3. Blue collar fast-paced environment experience.
  4. CIPD qualification or similarly equal experience level.
  5. Trade union experience preferred.
