Nabu Casa is looking for a part-time Human Resources Generalist to join our team, helping develop and oversee the human resources function for our organization. This role focuses on building and maintaining a strong organizational culture, supporting a globally distributed workforce, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
Our team currently consists of 18 people across 9 countries (14 in Europe, 4 in the US), and you will be key to nurturing its growth.
This position will be the only position in our HR team, as our current HR person will transition to the Open Home Foundation; but you will receive support from him as needed. You will report directly to our CFO.
What You Are Going To Do
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Design and execute a full-cycle talent strategy, from sourcing and hiring to onboarding and retention, ensuring the best possible experience for our remote workforce.
- Employee Engagement & Culture: Actively foster a positive, inclusive, and transparent work environment that reflects our open-source values and supports professional growth for every team member.
- Performance Management: Establish and manage meaningful performance evaluation systems and feedback mechanisms that enable our team to do their best work.
- Compliance & Legal: Ensure HR policies align with relevant employment laws across various jurisdictions.
- Compensation & Benefits: Develop fair and competitive compensation structures, including benefits tailored for a distributed, remote-first organization.
- Conflict Resolution & Employee Relations: Act as a mediator and resource for conflict resolution, employee concerns, and workplace disputes.
- HR Operations & Technology: Optimize HR systems, tools, and processes to streamline operations and enhance employee experience.
What You Need To Have
- 7+ years of experience in human resources.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and employment laws across multiple regions.
- Proven experience working in distributed, remote-first organizations.
- Experience working with EoR services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience administrating HR technology solutions for workforce management and engagement.
- Passion for open-source communities and mission-driven work.
- Professional Fluency in English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- European Residency: You must be currently based and eligible to work within Europe.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience working in the Smart Home industry.
- Experience working in the open-source industry.
- Personal experience using Home Assistant.
- Affinity with open-source development.
What we offer You
Nabu Casa is a fully remote company that uses Remote to employ people from all over the world. You will be a normal salaried employee in your country.
This is a part-time position for 20 hours per week. Because we are a fully remote company, there is no fixed schedule. For the purpose of team communication, we do try to ensure at least 3 hours of overlap in the workday. Your team manager is based in the CEST timezone.
Core to the establishment of Nabu Casa was the well-being of the people building Home Assistant. We will provide all the benefits required by the country you reside in. However, we also want to make sure all our employees, regardless of country of origin, get at least a minimal set of benefits, including:
- Five weeks (twenty-five days) of paid time off.
- Fourteen days of paid sick leave if your country/laws treat them as unpaid.
- Six weeks of paid and six weeks of unpaid parental leave to be used in the first year after birth. We will provide the missing days if your country/laws do not provide such compensation.
- A budget to equip your home workspace once you start. After three years, you may keep this equipment for personal use.
- A monthly smart home budget to ensure you keep up-to-date with the latest that smart homes offer.
- A 50% contribution to your internet connection fee at your home workspace.
- If you are currently working on Home Assistant-related side projects, you can spend work time maintaining it.
When first offering a position to a new member, Nabu Casa aims to provide a
total compensation package that matches the 75th percentile for the new hire's role, seniority, and local market rates. For a
part-time (20h/week) HR Generalist in our primary operating countries, the approximate yearly compensation will be the following:
- Netherlands: 43.000 EUR
- UK: 40.000 GBP
- Spain: 35.000 EUR
- Other countries: compensation can be discussed during the first interview.
These figures may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and work hours.
