Job description

Our Human Resources & Organisational Development Division is hiring

We’re entering an exciting new chapter. Following a recent restructure, we’re focused on redefining the way we grow and thrive - together.

We are looking to recruit an HR Data Analyst (2 year fixed term contract). You will be qualified to degree level in HR or a data field (e.g. Mathematics or Computer Science) or have equivalent experience working in an information or data role.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an agile, professional service to support the delivery of the Borough’s people-based targets and objectives. We're searching for people-focused data experts to join us and there's plenty of opportunity for you to have your say and help shape our work. You’ll be passionate about developing your skills and supporting others in the service.

You will be responsible for a range of management information reporting and extracting meaningful insights from HR data to inform decision-making processes across the organisation. Working closely with HR managers and department heads, you will play a crucial role in optimising workforce planning, enhancing employee engagement, supporting the Council’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda and improving overall organisational performance.

We capture learning through data analysis, case reviews, and using performance data to gain insight into the effectiveness of the division, which is key to our focus on continuous service improvement.

About you

You will have experience analysing complex data sets to identify patterns and inform decision making. You will have strong written, verbal and data analysis skills, with the ability to capture research and make decisions about how to present information in a wide variety of forms appropriate to the audience and purpose.

Your expertise in data analytics will enable you to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions.

Using your advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas), you will be able to analyse data, including statistical/data interpretation, that contribute to the identification of issues, problem solving and prioritisation.

It’s not essential but having a knowledge of PowerBI would be a great advantage.

We’re committed to fostering innovation, improving HR and OD through the use of data insights and developing our professional knowledge and skills; we are excited to receive applications from candidates with the same enthusiasm.

The Process

If you are shortlisted, there will be two stages to the assessment process:

Tests, including an Excel-based task, will take place week commencing 12 May 2025. These will take place online.

Those successful at the test stage will be invited to an in-person interview. Interviews will take place week commencing 19th May 2025.
