Job description

Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for supporting educational institutions? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated HR Schools Business Partner to join our Human Resources Service, providing essential HR support to schools across the region.

The Role

Responsibilities

As the HR Schools Business Partner, you will be the primary point of contact for HR enquiries from schools, delivering expert advice and guidance on a wide range of HR issues. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the HR Business Partner Manager to ensure the effective delivery of HR services to schools
  • Providing advice on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and absence management
  • Supporting the implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Conducting HR briefings and training sessions for school leaders and governors
  • Advising on organisational change, including restructures and redundancies
  • Working with other HR colleagues to ensure a seamless service is provided to schools

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven experience in a HRBP role, with a strong background in employee relations
  • Knowledge of the education sector and the unique HR challenges faced by schools
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with school leaders and governors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice
  • Proactive and solution-focused, with the ability to navigate complex HR issues
  • Ideally, you will hold a CIPD qualification or equivalent
