Job description

Our client is a privately owned, multi-sector group with a strong heritage and a forward-thinking mindset. With interests spanning hospitality, industrial manufacturing, and property, they operate across the UK and internationally.

Company culture is built on integrity, resilience, and long-term relationships—values that have shaped their success for over 60 years.

Our client is looking for a dynamic HR Business Partner to join their UK team and take responsibility for the full employee life cycle across their various businesses in the UK. This is a high-profile and important role, reporting directly to a demanding CEO across a diverse, fast-paced group of businesses.

Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for delivering all elements of HR in a consistent, structured and legally compliant manner. The HR Business Partner will be focused on driving employee engagement and developing company culture in this family run business and will work with the CEO to develop HR in areas such as HR technology, benefits and compliance.

The purpose of this role is to develop the framework, along with tools and support for employees and managers, so that there is a consistent approach to each key element of the employee lifecycle whilst recognising that each business within the group will have their own ways of working to suit their business/sector.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with the management team to support and advise on all employee-related matters.
  • Lead and deliver the full employee lifecycle across the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring operational excellence in core HR areas such as onboarding, induction, contracts, policies, holidays, sickness, absence and performance management.
  • Deal directly with employee relations issues with managers.
  • Create an HR network across the company.
  • Use data and insights to influence decision-making and measure the impact of HR initiatives.
  • Take a hands-on sensible approach to HR delivery, ensuring stability, order, and control in all aspects of the role.
  • Work with the CEO to introduce initiatives such as HR technology, engagement and reward initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience in a Business Partner role in complex, multi-sector environments, with at least five years in HR roles.
  • Strong operational capability and attention to detail - you’re someone who is “in the detail” and ensures nothing is missed.
  • A pragmatic, action-oriented mindset with the resilience and confidence to thrive under pressure.
  • A dependable, reliable, and solid presence - someone who “rolls up their sleeves” and gets the job done.
  • A proven HR leader who can handle the day to day whilst working with the CEO to deliver tactically and strategically.
  • Excellent influencing skills and commercial acumen, with a sensible, solutions-focused approach.
  • CIPD Level 5+ qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A collaborative and culturally sensitive approach - HR is an extension of the family culture and must reflect those values.
