Job summary

Midland Heart is seeking an experienced HR professional to join as a strategic HR partner, driving people plans aligned to our Tenants at Heart strategy and enabling leaders to deliver high‑quality services for tenants.

You will influence senior managers, develop leadership capability, and apply data insights to improve engagement and performance while working closely with Talent, Finance and Resourcing colleagues. The role is primarily on‑site in Birmingham.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience, with MCIPD or equivalent professional experience.
  • Substantial generalist HR experience, including complex employee relations, absence, workforce planning, trade union engagement and employment law application.
  • Proven track record of delivering an effective business partnering service, influencing senior managers and improving people management capability to enhance operational performance.
  • Experience of designing operating models, managing change, restructures and TUPE, and supporting leaders through transformation.
  • The ability to bring together data, insight and stakeholder feedback to create People plans that improve engagement, capability and performance.
  • Proven coaching, facilitation and mediation skills, with the confidence to build management capability in a practical and sustainable way and support leaders to address performance fairly, consistently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • shaping and delivering people plans that directly support business strategy and our Tenants at Heart priorities.
  • using HR data, business insight and professional curiosity to understand issues, spot trends and translate evidence into practical action.
  • building management and leadership capability across your business areas, using coaching, practical guidance, workshops and supportive challenge to improve the quality and consistency of people management.
  • supporting leaders to develop a more consistent and effective performance culture, helping managers set clear expectations, address issues early and enable teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality services for tenants.
  • providing expert, risk‑based advice on complex employee relations, organisational change, restructures, TUPE and employment tribunal matters.
  • leading strategic workforce planning, helping leaders forecast talent needs, identify capability gaps and build the capacity and resilience required for the future.
  • working closely with Talent, Finance and Resourcing colleagues to ensure workforce plans, budgets and resourcing strategies are aligned and effective.
  • contributing to corporate HR strategies, projects, policy development and leadership development activity that improves the colleague and tenant experience.

About You You will be a confident HR professional who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will bring credibility, judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, while being able to offer constructive challenge in a supportive and solutions‑focused way. Just as importantly, you will be passionate about developing managers and leaders, helping them build the confidence, skills and consistency needed to lead their teams well and improve performance for the benefit of tenants.

Please be advised that the successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 4 days each week on‑site.
