Swindon Borough Council is seeking an adaptable and diligent HR Assistant to join our Enabling Services team. This temporary opportunity is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced HR environment and is eager to support operational excellence across core human resources processes.
Role Purpose
You’ll play a pivotal part in delivering day-to-day HR services including:
HR advisory and employee relations
Recruitment support and contract administration
Handling DBS, FOIs, and invoice processing
Liaising closely with payroll to escalate and resolve related queries
Supporting absence management, grievance and disciplinary casework
Key Responsibilities
Prioritising workload and responding to urgent queries under guidance
Acting as a first point of contact for HR policy and system queries
Maintaining data integrity across HR systems with GDPR compliance
Collaborating across HR teams to support peak workloads
Driving continuous improvement in HR operations and processes
Building stakeholder relationships and supporting solutions development
Person Specification
We’re looking for candidates who:
Are CIPD Associate qualified or working towards this
Understand HR databases, policies, and employment law fundamentals
Have experience in a customer-focused HR role, ideally within a shared service centre
Can analyse and interpret HR data to identify trends and provide insight
Are skilled communicators, team players, and advocates for inclusive practice
