The Role

We are seeking to appoint two Interim HR Assistants for at least 3 months. The primary focus will be recruiting hard-to-fill vacancies across Southwark’s Adults and Children’s services, including Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. Responsibilities include onboarding new starters professionally and proactively, ensuring a seamless experience, and providing additional HR operational support to a busy HR Business Partnering team, including supporting projects and ER casework administration.

About You

The ideal candidate will be able to support managers with daily recruitment queries, escalate issues when necessary, and work efficiently to maintain recruitment timelines. You should be a self-starter, team-oriented, and capable of carrying out pre-employment checks such as right-to-work verifications and other clearances, both domestic and international. Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and recruitment procedures
Experience
  • Proven experience as an HR Assistant or similar role in HR or administration
  • Experience supporting bespoke recruitment campaigns, including international roles and using various advertising methods
Skills & Competencies
  • Familiarity with hiring practices (screening, interviews, assessment, onboarding)
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficiency with IT packages for data entry, analysis, and reporting
