Qualifications

Role: HR Assistant/HR Officer

School: Talbot Primary School

Hours: 25 hours weekly, term time plus 2 weeks, permanent

Salary: Poole Grade D to F dependant on experience SCP 5 to 6 £25,583 to £25,989 FTE, £15,561 to £15,807 pro rata; SCP 7 to 11 £26,402 to £28,141 FTE, £16,059 to £17,116 pro rata; SCP 12 to 17 £28,598 to £31,021 FTE, £17,394 to £18,868 pro rata

Job Summary

We are looking to appoint an experienced, reliable, flexible and enthusiastic HR Assistant to join our busy school business team. Previous experience of HR processes and procedures would be preferred, although training may be given to the right candidate. The post requires a high degree of interpersonal, organisation, communication and administrative skills, including using initiative, the ability to be flexible, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality and a professional approach.

The post holder must be numerate, computer literate with a good knowledge of Word, Excel and other HR packages.

Responsibilities and Qualities
  • Provide HR support as part of the school business team; assist and develop HR processes and procedures (training may be provided).
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrate numeracy and computer literacy, with good knowledge of Word, Excel and other HR software.
  • Use initiative, be flexible, diplomatic and professional in approach.
  • Log safeguarding matters disclosed to you correctly.
The Successful Applicant Will Have
  • Proven experience in an HR role or HR administration, preferably 2 years or more in a similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • CIPD qualifications, Level 3 or above, are highly desirable. There is the opportunity to work towards these qualifications.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and accurate logging of safeguarding matters.
