Job description

We’re West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD), shaping new high-speed train services for the UK. Working with HS2 Ltd, FirstGroup, Trenitalia, and the Department for Transport, we are designing services on the High Speed 2 railway and the West Coast Main Line.

Our goal is to maximize government investment to create a world-class railway with faster journeys, more capacity, and an exceptional customer experience. Our vision is for High-Speed Services to be the best travel experience in Britain—easy, comfortable, and impressive—by simplifying processes, reducing stress, and prioritizing customers.

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as HR Assistant Business Partner. As an HR Analyst, you will join the Business Development and Organisation Team (BDO), supporting the launch of high-speed services and establishing Integrated Services (IS). Your role will include coordinating HR and Organisational Design (OD) research, analysis, and support within the BDO team, focusing on:

  • Staff Engagement Plan and its delivery, guiding our workforce and partners through mobilisation, introduction, and embedding of new services.
  • Designing and developing the new organisational structure, roles, and terms & conditions.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Gathering, interpreting, analyzing, and presenting HR/OD data clearly and comprehensively.
  • Researching and analyzing to develop strategies and action plans, seeking best practices in HR/OD, staff engagement, talent management, leadership, culture, and change.
  • Supporting business structure proposals, responding to feedback, and liaising with legal and stakeholder teams.
  • Staying updated on HR trends, practices, and pay/engagement activities.
  • Building and maintaining a library of HR/OD research, including role profiles, policies, and terms & conditions.
  • Innovating HR practices and ensuring information is current and accessible.
  • Supporting and documenting sensitive issues affecting the team.

You will foster effective relationships with key stakeholders, including:

  • Collaborating with internal subject matter experts and providing HR guidance across the team.
  • Organizing engagement events, workshops, and presentations.
  • Using relationships to influence and inform HR/OD deliverables and stakeholder communication.
  • Supporting benchmarking exercises with external organizations.

This role is based in London, with a requirement for some travel, averaging at least 3 days per week in the office.

West Coast Partnership Development focuses on planning the future of high-speed rail services, including customer experience, operations, and mobilisation, over the next decade, in collaboration with HS2 Ltd.

We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can be their authentic selves. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join our team and bring their unique perspectives.
