HR Assistant

Are you an experienced HR administrator or assistant looking for your next challenge in a busy, hands-on HR team? We’re seeking a highly organized and people-focused HR Assistant to join us at our Lifton site, supporting the day-to-day delivery of our HR service across the business.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth HR operations, from recruitment and onboarding to employee lifecycle administration and colleague engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process new starters, including contracts, onboarding paperwork, and setting up on HR systems.
  • Manage leavers, update trackers, and carry out exit interviews.
  • Maintain employee records and process changes through MyHR.
  • Support employee relations administration, ensuring accurate case tracking.
  • Carry out weekly HR GEMBA walks and follow up on actions.
  • Track and support probationary reviews with line managers.
  • Produce and maintain weekly HR KPI dashboards.
  • Help coordinate recruitment and onboarding alongside hiring managers.
  • Actively contribute to improving the employee experience, both on joining and leaving the business.
  • Support delivery of the site People Plan and HR projects.
  • Respond to colleague queries through HR clinics and the HR inbox.
  • Carry out eligibility to work checks, personal file audits, and data compliance checks.
  • Support absence management and help ensure consistent application across departments.
  • Deliver training to line managers or operatives when required.
  • Promote and administer flexible benefits including pensions, cycle to work, and holiday purchase.
  • Carry out payroll-related activities and ad hoc admin duties such as filing, producing clock cards, and minute-taking.
  • Cover reception when needed.
  • Maintain full confidentiality and uphold data protection standards at all times.
What You’ll Need
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a HR administrative or assistant role.
  • Strong IT skills, with experience using HR systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Confident dealing with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Experience using SAP HR or similar HRIS.
  • A flexible, proactive approach and ability to adapt to change.
