HR Assistant

OA are recruiting for an HR Assistant to join our client’s highly successful and growing team.

The role involves administrative support, including data entry, filing, updating policies, researching regulations, and maintaining employee records.

With guidance from the HR Administration Manager, the role includes providing HR advice on key matters like maternity/paternity/adoption and return-to-work meetings.

The ideal candidate is trustworthy, organised, has strong administrative skills, and is eager to learn.

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM, fully office-based. Hybrid working available after a six-month probation. Occasional travel involved.

Salary: Up to £26,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Admin tasks: resource assessment, procedures, benefits, legislation updates
  • Advise employees/managers on HR matters
  • Conduct return-to-work interviews
  • Update staff handbook
  • Manage HR admin and communication
  • Respond to queries
  • Administer cycle-to-work scheme
  • Organise references, draft offer letters/contracts
  • Maintain personnel files, handle onboarding documents
  • Raise IT tickets, conduct inductions
  • Update absence records, track probation reviews
  • Assist with DBS checks
  • File appraisals

Skills & Experience:

  • HR qualification or 12+ months HR experience preferred
