Bell Cornwall Recruitment are delighted to be working with a King and Queen’s Award-winning multi-million-pound turnover precision engineering and manufacturing business that has been established in Birmingham for more than 160 years. They are looking for a HR and HSE Manager to oversee all HR procedures and take ownership of the applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE).

Duties and responsibilities of the HR and HSE Manager include (but are not limited to)

Human Resources:

  • Proactively manage apprentice/future talent development program including regular off-site visits to training providers and holding progress meetings with the apprentices and relevant line managers.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with engineering project needs, operational goals, and growth objectives.
  • Coordinate technical and soft skill training programs, certifications, and CPD (continuing professional development).
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment including full onboarding process for new starters.
  • Advisory role in employee relations and dispute resolution (in conjunction with external HR provider).

Health, Safety and Environmental:

  • Management of the company’s HSE system and documentation.
  • Oversight of HSE policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness plans including record keeping and updating technical documents in response to HSE inputs
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory health and safety regulations.
  • Implementation of internal audits and risk assessments & Leading HSE audit programs and external compliance checks.
  • Chairing H&S committee meetings and safety walk-throughs.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience managing health and safety within an engineering/manufacturing environment is essential.
  • People management experience, comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Proactive nature with evidence of implementing processes within a business.
  • Happy in the office 5 days a week with off-site visits .
