Job Description:

The Deal Execution team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, delivering value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing industry and functional insights, and executing with investor-grade rigor. We are a diverse team of over 105 practitioners, working collaboratively across KPMG’s Advisory capabilities, focused on enhancing value throughout the deal and economic cycle. Our specialists assist clients from conceptual thinking of acquisitions to business turnarounds.

Our M&A Centre of Excellence handles all aspects of the employee journey in M&A and leverages experience to enact transformational change outside deal contexts. This includes strategy development, organizational design, synergy analysis, employee experience, corporate culture, employee transfer, and transformational solutions to help organizations achieve their goals. We aim to execute transactions and change efficiently, maximizing value through people and ensuring smooth transitions.

The Manager role is central to the team, leading project delivery while collaborating with global leadership. Although we work across sectors, there is scope for specialization.

Our four key client proposition areas are:

  1. Employee experience: Managing engagement programs to address employee impact, ensuring employees would choose to join independently of the deal.
  2. Organizational strategy development: Designing organization structure, people strategy, operating models, synergies, and value enhancements for carve-outs or standalone entities.
  3. Labour relations and compliance: Managing HR and labor risks globally to meet deal timelines and integration plans.
  4. HR operations: Delivering HR services efficiently during and after deals, providing high-quality employee support.

Role Overview

In this role, you will lead projects, working closely with senior team members to develop your deal knowledge and skills in people, OD, strategy, and HR. You will also apply your change and consulting skills to deliver transformational change outside deal contexts.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading small-to-medium engagements and supporting clients daily
  • Due Diligence: Reviewing deal reports from a people perspective, analyzing data on cost, legal issues, systems, HR contracts, and providing insights on people impacts
  • Integration & Separation: Advising on organizational design, strategy, and transition plans, leading HR workstreams, facilitating workshops, and reviewing organizational design
  • Transformational Change: Supporting clients in achieving objectives through change projects, designing roadmaps, managing risks, and defining success metrics
  • Wider Responsibilities: Engaging with stakeholders, coaching junior team members, ensuring quality and risk management, and supporting propositions and tools development

Leadership & Management

The Manager acts as a role model, mentoring juniors, challenging the team, ensuring commercial focus, and contributing to market initiatives to win new work.

Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges

Demonstrate credibility, advise on complex deals, act as Engagement Manager for projects, manage stakeholders, deliver high-quality outputs, coach teams, and identify opportunities for technology use to improve delivery.
