Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are hiring a newly created HR Advisor role to join our HR Team. Reporting to the Head of HR, this role will work alongside a Senior HR Advisor and support the HR Coordinator, focusing on HR Operations & ER, projects, and talent initiatives.

Medialab is recognized by the IPA with a Platinum accreditation in CPD and Learning & Development. We invest heavily in our team’s development, fostering a learning culture from day one.

The HR Advisor will lead and implement key L&D initiatives, manage training plans, mentor programs, and support team development, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

HR Operations

  • Manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, pay increases, promotions, reviews, and exit interviews.
  • Support wellbeing, mental health, benefits, and engagement projects.
  • Maintain cultural initiatives and accreditations like IPA People First.
  • Update and share company policies, ensuring compliance.
  • Enhance HR processes and technologies for efficiency.

Employee Relations

  • Handle Employee Relations cases, advising employees and managers.
  • Assist with complex ER cases, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Coach managers on performance management and difficult conversations.
  • Manage leave cases proactively.

Learning & Development

  • Lead 'Medialab University' training programs.
  • Address skills gaps via training partners and courses.
  • Organize 'Lunch & LearnLabs' and meetings.
  • Develop entry-level training and mentorship programs.
  • Promote external DEI mentorship and mental health training.
  • Deliver workshops and management training.
  • Review training feedback for improvements.
  • Contribute to IPA CPD submissions.

Team Management / Coaching

  • Indirectly manage the HR Coordinator, supporting their development.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Technical:

  • Experience in HR Advisory / Employee Relations, preferably in media/marketing/creative sectors.
  • Experience in planning company-wide training programs.
  • Knowledge of employment law (intermediate level).
  • Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Data analysis skills for insights and reporting.
  • Understanding of IR35, visa, and immigration regulations.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification is preferred.

Personal:

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Trustworthy with confidential information.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and relationship-builder.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
