Job summary

Portakabin Ltd is seeking an HR Advisor to join our York head office HR team. The role offers a permanent contract with a salary up to £35,000 plus a potential annual bonus of up to 5% dependent on performance.

Key duties include advising on employee relations matters, coaching managers, supporting ER procedures, handling cases, conducting exit interviews and ensuring compliance with employment law. CIPD qualification and ER experience are ideal.

Qualifications

• Provide timely advice on employee relations matters, ensuring policies are applied consistently.
• Coach and advise managers on HR policies and procedures, building capability to handle people issues confidently.
• Support employees and managers through ER procedures, driving timely resolutions.
• Manage formal ER cases, ensuring they are recorded, tracked and resolved within timescales.
• Conduct exit interviews and elevate feedback to stakeholders.
• Escalate complex or high‑risk cases for governance approvals.
• Assist in designing and delivering training on ER topics to increase manager capability.
• Ensure advice complies with employment law and company policies.

Role Details

• Annual salary up to 35,000 dependent on skills and experience, plus potential annual-on-target bonus of up to 5% subject to business performance
• Role based: York, YO32 9PT
• Contract type: Permanent
• Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.

Duties

• Provide timely and effective advice on employee relations matters, ensuring company policies are applied consistently.
• Coach and advise managers on HR policies and procedures, building knowledge and capability to handle people issues confidently.
• Support employees and managers through ER procedures, handling cases proactively to achieve timely resolution.
• Manage formal ER cases, ensuring they are recorded, tracked and resolved within required timescales.
• Conduct exit interviews and elevate feedback and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the People Operations Manager, seeking guidance and approval in line with governance requirements.
• Support the design and delivery of training on key employee relations topics to increase line manager capability.
• Ensure advice and guidance is compliant with employment law and company policies.
