Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) is a diverse organisation that provides policing and support to more than 2 million residents. As an employer we recognise it is our workforce that are central to everything we do to enable the highest level of public service. We aim to provide a supportive and dynamic working environment where staff and officers can achieve their full potential, have a healthy work-life balance and feel valued for what they do.

About the Role

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are calling on HR professionals to join our People and Development function as an HR Advisor.

Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, you will report to a Senior HR Advisor to provide the delivery and support of high quality, comprehensive and effective people services whilst developing a thorough understanding of different business areas to deliver practical, timely and high quality people solutions. Our people are key in delivering the Force’s priorities and we are looking for flexible and committed individuals to join our People and Development service and proactively support the organisation in doing this.

This role is working specifically within the Casework and Organisational Change Team of the People and Development function. On a day to day basis you will be supporting managers on a range of HR and people issues. This will include providing casework advice and guidance in line with a framework of best practice, policy and employment law with the aim of supporting managers to reach a satisfactory, high quality and timely resolution of cases. In addition you will work with managers on the delivery of change programmes, ensuring organisational change is implemented in line with legislative requirements.

You will need to be educated to QCF level 3 or have comparable work experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a generalist HR or similar role; providing HR advice to a range of managers on employee relations issues such as attendance, conflict management or policy. You will require good communication skills and an ability to develop and maintain relationships with managers and staff at all levels, constructively challenging to resolve problems accordingly. An understanding and working knowledge of relevant UK employment legislation is also an essential component of the role.

Whilst the role is contractually based at HIOWC’s Strategic Headquarters in Eastleigh, hybrid working will be available to those joining the team, with an office day being primarily Friday. Applicants must also be aware that, depending on cases, there may be a requirement to travel to policing sites within Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
