Job Description

Our client is a large local government organisation looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team.

This is initially a 3-month contract which may be extended for the right candidate.

You will:

  1. Provide a high-quality, comprehensive Employee Relations service to a service or services as the 'ER expert’ as directed on a range of employment relations and employment law matters and activities.
  2. Be responsible for advising and guiding managers through the Council’s range of employment-related policies, procedures, and related employment law, ensuring the Council is operating best employment law and practice contributing to an effective employee relations function.
  3. Draft comprehensive employment policies, procedures, guidance notes, etc., as required, supporting best employment practice. Liaise with trade unions and other stakeholders as part of the process, seeking to reach agreement wherever possible.
  4. Keep up to date with changes to employment law. Develop and deliver training sessions on changes for HR staff and managers across designated service areas and corporately.
  5. Support and implement departmental and corporate restructures as required. Provide advice, guidance, and support to TUPE transfers in and out of the organisation, ensuring best practice employment law is in place whilst facilitating these transfers.
  6. Deliver ad-hoc training and engagement sessions for staff and managers related to employment law and related issues as required.
  7. Manage an ER caseload practically, professionally, and at pace, liaising with all stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes for the organisation.
  8. Ensure own responsibility for continued professional self-development enabling improvement in knowledge, skills, and experience assessed regularly against the career progression map for the role.
  9. Contribute to the development and delivery of team development sessions as detailed within the annual HR Operations and Partnering action plan.
  10. Support departments to improve staff engagement and experience of internal communications in the annual staff engagement survey, working closely with our OD colleagues and HR&OD BPs to guide and enable business areas in resulting action planning whilst monitoring departmental progress on key themes and outcomes of the annual survey.
