Job description

Stirling Dynamics is recruiting an HR Advisor to join the Support Services team.

The HR Advisor will provide practical, professional HR advice and support across the employee lifecycle, working closely with managers and employees. Reporting to the Head of HR, the successful candidate will support the delivery of an effective, consistent and compliant HR service and will work alongside the wider Support Services team, including Finance, IT and Office Management.

As part of a small HR team, the role will be hands-on and will include a mix of advisory work, HR administration, reporting, process coordination and project support. This role will suit an experienced HR professional who is confident providing first-line advice, supporting managers with day-to-day HR queries and handling employee matters as they arise, while building trusted working relationships across the business.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Bristol office and is expected to start in November 2026. As part of our commitment to flexible working, we also accept hybrid working.

The ability to achieve and maintain UK Security Clearance is a mandatory pre-requisite for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of day-to-day HR administration, reporting and system updates, ensuring processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide timely, practical and consistent advice to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employment matters.
  • Support managers and employees with employee relations matters as required, including absence, performance, conduct, capability, grievance and flexible working, escalating complex or high-risk cases to the Head of HR.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding activities, including preparing job documentation, coordinating selection processes, drafting employment documentation, ensuring pre-employment and security checks are completed, and managing the first day inductions.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring personal data is handled confidentially and in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Coordinate core employee lifecycle processes, including probation reviews, family leave, contractual changes, leavers and return-to-work documentation.
  • Support the annual performance review and salary review processes.
  • Contribute to the review, development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, guidance and manager toolkits.
  • Support learning, development, engagement and wider HR improvement projects, taking ownership of agreed actions and delivering them to deadlines.
Qualifications
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (Desirable)
Essential Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain sensitive or complex information clearly and professionally.
  • Comfortable balancing advisory work with hands-on HR administration, reporting and process coordination in a small team environment.
  • Due to the nature of the role, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks are essential.
  • Proactive, adaptable and comfortable taking ownership of work.
  • Collaborative team player who supports continuous improvement.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
Experience
  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
Benefits
  • Competitive package - Grade 4 (£35,000 - £40,000) depending on experience
  • We offer a range of benefits to our employees to recognise their efforts. Playing hard is equally as important as working hard, so regular events are held throughout the year which provide an ideal opportunity to mix socially.
