Who is New England Seafood International?

New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and which is owned by 26,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas.

Scope and purpose of the role

This role will be responsible for providing Generalist HR support to our teams, with the primary stakeholders being our production supervisors and Managers, working proactively with those stakeholders to advise and guide on a range of people activities. Working closely with the Operations team the HR Advisor will work to ensure their recruitment needs are met in line with the site strategy.

This is an exciting new role, ideal for a HR Administrator or assistant looking to continue their development and to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the recruitment process for the factory, including the temp to perm process. Ensuring Agency approvals are completed, and roles are effectively hired through the HRIS system with all correct documentation such as right to work and contracts are in place.

Support and advise Supervisors and Managers on best practice and employment law through the Investigation, Discipline and Grievance process.

Support with all aspects of employee life cycle, including but not limited to: Recruitment, onboarding, contractual changes, time and attendance, reward and recognition, exit interviews

Ensure HRIS and electronic employee files are kept up to date and accurate and employee files are accurate

Deputise for weekly payroll

Support with absence management, support managers and employees with adherence to the absence policy. Support in absence review meetings, advising on best practice and employment law

Proactively support managers and supervisors to identify people situations that require support. Provide support to develop skills and knowledge in people related areas.

Be responsible for site communications, such as notice boards, T.V screens and regular communications to the site

Provide general administration support for HR

Take part in ad hoc projects

What experiences, knowledge and capabilities do I need to demonstrate?

To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate recent experience in Human Resources, preferably from a fast paced manufacturing environment, coupled with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.

Required

CIPD level 3 essential, working towards 5 desirable

Solid Knowledge of employment law

Good working knowledge of MS Package

Excellent organisation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent communication skills

Proven experience in building relationships, influencing and working proactively

Experience In Recruitment, Preferred, But Not Essential

Experience of working in a FMCG is desirable, but not essential, however will need to be comfortable working in a fast paced and varied role.
