Job summary

Artis Recruitment is supporting a growing organisation in Bridgwater in search of an HR Advisor to join their team. This broad, hands-on role covers the full employee lifecycle, offering practical HR advice to managers and staff while getting involved in recruitment, HR admin, training and reporting.

You'll enjoy variety, own your work and help improve HR processes and the employee experience. The role is 4 days on site with 1 day from home, permanent contract and up to 38,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor, People Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
  • Experience providing HR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Experience supporting employee relations processes, including disciplinaries, grievances and investigations.
  • Experience across recruitment and employee lifecycle processes.
  • A good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with people at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work with HR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or multi-site environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Providing practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a range of employment matters.
  • Supporting employee relations processes including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, capability matters and flexible working requests.
  • Supporting maternity and paternity processes and ensuring employees receive accurate and timely information.
  • Supporting the full recruitment lifecycle, including advertising, CV screening, candidate communication, interview coordination and selection.
  • Participating in interviews and providing feedback to candidates and hiring managers.
  • Managing employee lifecycle administration, including starters, leavers, contracts, contractual changes and HR documentation.
  • Preparing HR letters and maintaining accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Supporting the onboarding and induction process for new employees.
  • Preparing monthly HR reports and supporting wider HR reporting and compliance activity.
  • Monitoring probation periods and following up with managers where required.
  • Supporting mandatory training, annual training processes and maintaining accurate training records.
  • Coordinating occupational health referrals and supporting related follow-up activity.
  • Supporting apprenticeships, work experience placements and wider learning and development activity.
  • Supporting employee benefits, wellbeing initiatives and pension-related activity.
  • Getting involved in HR projects and identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and service delivery.
  • Working closely with the wider HR team and supporting colleagues during busy periods.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for an HR professional who is confident providing advice and support across a broad generalist remit.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor, People Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
  • Experience providing HR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Experience supporting employee relations processes, including disciplinaries, grievances and investigations.
  • Experience across recruitment and employee lifecycle processes.
