Job description

Carmichael are seeking a HR Advisor to join the team based in London. The role is remote based and will require occasional visit to the office based in London.

Project/Department Overview

The HR Advisor is responsible for working with managers at Company sites within their region of responsibility, providing HR support to all live project sites within the South of the UK.

Job Description/Purpose

The individual is responsible for supporting all operational HR aspects of the employment life cycle, including recruitment, manpower planning, performance management, and sickness absence across the region. To provide first point contact for all general HR issues relating to Company policy and procedure which cannot be resolved by the HR Service Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide operational HR support to all projects within the assigned region.
  2. Support the manpower planning process across all appointed sites, including mobilisation and downsizing, ranging from both internal and external recruitment and possible redundancies.
  3. Provide HR advice and guidance on industrial relations matters including trade union involvement and TUPE.
  4. Play an active role in talent management, encouraging career development plans, succession, and identification of key talent at local level.
  5. Link with the Learning & Development function to encourage training plans, career development, and to support L&D initiatives.
  6. Support the annual performance review and career development review process, reviewing outcomes with line managers and agreeing output action plans for staff at each site.
  7. Champion the use of MyHR with line managers and individuals at sites, providing support and guidance on maximising the potential of the system.
  8. Run analysis reports for line managers as and when required.
  9. Provide guidance and advice on all pay and reward queries, including promotions, salary increases, allowances, etc., and facilitate the completion of these.
  10. Provide HR advice and guidance on all disciplinary and grievance matters, and actively monitor attendance management.
  11. Ensure Central HR policies, processes, and initiatives are communicated and deployed effectively at site level.
  12. Assist with the HR input to our work winning pre-qualifications and tenders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  1. Significant experience and ability to demonstrate working at HR Adviser level.
  2. Sound knowledge of UK employment law and experience of dealing with TUPE, mergers & acquisitions, and employee & industrial relations issues.
  3. Ability to manage both the commercial business objectives and HR agenda in order to achieve the most appropriate outcomes for the business and HR.
  4. Proven experience of managing and implementing projects and change activities.
  5. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  6. Able to determine needs rather than wants and coach/influence accordingly.
  7. Ability to manage own emotions under pressure.
  8. Under pressure, ability to maintain high levels of energy and resilience to make things happen.
  9. Flexible and able to adapt to change quickly.
  10. Collaborative approach with colleagues and teams.
  11. Proactively manage own development.
