Job description

Macmillan Davies is partnered with a large transportation firm to support their requirement for a new HR Advisor on a 6-month initial fixed-term contract.

This will be a well-rounded generalist role that will give you exposure to several key facets of HR and the employee lifecycle. It will be highly beneficial if you have a background in transportation and have worked alongside trade unions.

Some of the key responsibilities for this role are highlighted below:

Employee Relations

  • Advise managers on investigations, disciplinary/grievance processes, and sickness absence management
  • Assist with Occupational Health referrals and coordinate appointments
  • Provide HR advice to employees on employment terms and conditions
  • Guide managers through probation processes, SMART objectives, and required documentation
  • Support employees and ensure compliance with probationary timelines

Recruitment & Selection

  • Participate in full recruitment cycle from advertising to job offers
  • Advise on employment law and Equality & Inclusion during hiring

Policy Development

  • Develop and refine HR policies and procedures
  • Implement policies through manager and employee collaboration

Service Provision

  • Provide cover for other HR staff as needed

Management Information

  • Create MI reports on attendance, headcount, and employee relations
  • Work with managers to determine reporting requirements

Trade Union Relations

  • Build relationships with Trade Union representatives

Exit Processes

  • Manage all leaver processes including dismissals, redundancy, retirement, and resignations

This is a hybrid role based in London, with a chance to extend beyond the 6 months.
