Overview

A&P Tyne are recruiting for a passionate and dedicated HR Advisor to join the APCL HR team and provide a first-class service to our Tyne site. This 100% site-based role works closely with internal teams and our customers who have on-site presence, managing complex, heavy engineering projects. You will partner with managers to resolve situations fairly and consistently with confidence and care, becoming a trusted Advisor. You will bring emotional intelligence and practical HR expertise to drive impact in employee relations, wellbeing, policy development, and organisational change.

So who are we? In a nutshell, APCL is one of the largest commercial ship repair, conversion and marine specialists of its kind in the UK. We support the Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and our Commercial Customers. At A&P Tyne we are an ambitious facility, part of APCL Group, with around 2000 people across locations in the North East, South West and North West. We employ a diverse workforce delivering a broad range of services to our customers. This role is 100% site-based, working with internal teams and our customers on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Support a large workforce by confidently coaching and supporting leaders at all levels to ensure effective people management across the facility
  • Manage complex HR cases, including disciplinary actions, master record-keeping, workload prioritisation, and identifying risks from high volumes of admin and communications
  • Keep up to date with ER and wellbeing topics to spot opportunities for improvement
  • Develop health & wellbeing initiatives, including occupational health and return-to-work strategies
  • Review and evolve HR policies across the group to ensure compliance, consistency and compassion
  • Interpret employee data to uncover trends and drive smarter decisions for key HR projects and continuous improvement
  • Stay ahead of employment law and HR best practices to keep us future-ready and ensure group-wide compliance through effective communication of updates
About You
  • Passionate and motivated HR professional with CIPD Level 5 or above
  • Grit, determination and influencing skills to secure outcomes
  • On-site availability five days a week with strong communication in face-to-face environments
  • Proven HR experience, especially in casework, change management, and employee relations with coaching and mentoring skills
  • Commercial awareness, proactive mindset and collaborative spirit
  • Professional and empathetic communication across all levels of the organisation
  • Attention to detail in disciplinaries, grievances, performance improvement plans, reviews and audits to drive continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to interpret People data to identify trends and support retention and engagement strategies
