Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

How would you like to work for a company that can accelerate your career? Do you feel that sometimes you have more to give, but no room to progress? How does constant training and development sound?

Here at XPO, we take our people seriously. We’re looking for a talented HR Advisor to join us on a full-time, permanent basis covering our Hatfield site on our Arla contract.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re offering a salary of up to £32,000 per annum. In addition, we provide 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), with the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to high street discounts, a salary sacrifice car scheme, cycle to work scheme, workplace pension, and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  1. Guide Managers through employee relations cases in real time, intervening and steering appropriately, considering company policies, employment law, best practices, and precedent. Escalate cases to the HR Manager as necessary.
  2. Develop and build strong, trusted partnerships with managers, acting as their sounding board and advisor.
  3. Lead on absence management, including making recommendations, providing advice and coaching, liaising with Occupational Health, supporting AMP/health review meetings, and other absence-related meetings.
  4. Prepare regular and ad hoc management information reports to support continuous improvement.
  5. Assist in designing and delivering development workshops on HR best practices to enhance knowledge and skills across the site.
  6. Help drive and embed the people agenda across the site.
  7. Create and maintain a positive team culture through collaboration with the wider HR & Payroll Team.
  8. Communicate effectively at all levels.
  9. Demonstrate a passionate and proactive approach—getting things done efficiently.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  1. Excellent communication and presentation skills—able to build relationships quickly, engage, and influence stakeholders.
  2. Experience in an HR advisory role, preferably in logistics and multi-site environments, handling a broad range of tasks including advising line managers on employee relations issues.
  3. Minimum of one year HR Advisor experience.
  4. Flexibility to travel as required.
  5. Experience in Logistics, Transport, Manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
  6. Experience working with trade unions.
  7. Ability to interpret and implement HR policies and procedures.
  8. CIPD qualification or working towards it (support offered).
