Synnovis is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR Advisory Team and help deliver a high-quality people service that supports excellent healthcare outcomes.

You will provide expert HR guidance to managers and employees across the organisation, handling employee relations, policy interpretation and compliance with employment legislation. The role offers hybrid working between HQ, hospital locations, and home, with collaboration across HR, Recruitment, Learning & Development and Legal.

Qualifications

  • Proven HR advisory experience across a multi-site organisation.
  • Experience handling employee relations case work and tribunals.
  • Strong stakeholder management and policy/application knowledge.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of our small and supportive HR Advisory team, you will provide a high-quality, responsive HR advisory and employee relations service to managers and employees across all levels of the organisation and across multiple locations.

You will be responsible for delivering timely and practical HR advice, ensuring managers are equipped to effectively manage people-related matters while maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures and employment legislation. In addition to supporting managers and employees directly, you will work closely with the wider HR team and HR Business Partners to provide business-focused HR solutions that support organisational objectives and enhance the employee experience.

Acting as a first point of contact for HR enquiries, you will advise managers and employees on a wide range of HR policies, procedures and transactional processes. You will also play a key role in employee relations case management, providing guidance and support on matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability and organisational change.

Working collaboratively with HR Business Partners, you will help identify and manage people-related risks, support change initiatives and ensure a consistent and pragmatic approach to people management across the business. You will also champion Synnovis' values and cultural standards, helping to create a positive and inclusive working environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Purpose of the Job

You will provide a professional, responsive and customer-focused HR advisory service to managers and employees across Synnovis. You will deliver pragmatic and commercially focused HR advice on a broad range of people matters, ensuring consistency, compliance and best practice across the organisation.

What you will do

  • Provide a comprehensive HR advisory service both remotely and on a face-to-face basis to approximately 2000 managers and employees, based across 4 main London locations, as well as our Orpington and Harefield hospital sites.
  • Respond to enquiries relating to employees on Synnovis and TUPE terms and conditions of employment and a broad range of HR and employee relations issues including sickness absence, discipline, grievance, probation and equal opportunities.
  • Participate in employee relations case management and provide support to the Senior HRBP, HRBP's and Operational Service Directors and/or lead on case management where appropriate including the organisation of meetings, hearings, panels and related supply of information and the production of agreed minutes as required.
  • Maintain the HR Advisory Mailbox, HR Service Desk on ServiceNow and case management tracker.
  • Advise mangers and employee on the application of Synnovis HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislative requirements and the application of best employment practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • To advise those with people management responsibilities on routine enquiries relating to terms and conditions of employment, including a broad range of HR and employee relations issues including sickness absence, discipline, grievances and employee development, the performance planning and review process, pay review process and equal opportunities with the aim of reaching reasonable conclusions using the relevant organisational policies & procedures.
  • To be responsible for advising and supporting managers and employees in the effective management of employee performance issues.
  • To be responsible for advising and supporting managers in the effective management of employee absence/ sickness issues ensuring that relevant policy and procedures consistently are followed
  • To support and contribute to the drafting, formulation and implementation of Synnovis HR policies and procedures as required.
  • In association with HR colleagues, to undertake HR administration tasks, including changes to terms and conditions of employment, staff movements, leavers, maternity, reporting to payroll providers and collating reports as requested.
  • To regularly brief the Senior HRBP and HRBP's on developments and areas of concern to ensure that additional support or interventions may be identified and applied or needs to be escalated.
  • To liaise with HR colleagues in producing HR and workforce reports as required, analysing data and responding appropriately to indicators identified.

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between SYNLAB UK and Ireland, and the NHS, including sites, Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver and transform pathology services across South East London.

The partnership provides services to 1.7 million people living in South East London, as well as to hundreds of thousands of patients from outside the region who use local healthcare services.

The partnership provides diagnostics, testing and digital pathology for hospital trusts, GP services and other healthcare providers.

The hub is an eight-storey building, and we are working across 10 floors including the ground and lower ground floors. Synnovis' corporate function operates from the hub on the 8th floor, above the laboratories underneath. This is a total net internal area of almost 10,000m squared across the 10 floors.

Based in Blackfriars, it's less than a 5 minute walk from Southwark Tube or Blackfriars station and nestled closely to a vast array of entertainment and fabulous places to dine, relax and meet people.

Qualifications
  • Associate membership of CIPD
  • Educated to GCSE standard with A-C attained in Maths and English, or equivalent
Experience
  • Proven HR Advisory experience
  • Experience of contribution to the delivery of projects and interventions
  • Substantial experience of Employee Relation case management within an HR environment, providing advice on a wide range of employee relations and employee development issues.
  • Experience in managing complex and sensitive employment relations issues to Tribunal level
  • Experience of working with confidential, sensitive data
  • Experience of contribution to the delivery of projects and interventions.
  • Experience of working in health sector – multi site experience
  • Experience of working with Compass HR information system
