This 6-month contract involves advising managers on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with policies, and contributing to HR system improvements. Ideal candidates will have experience in a Unionised environment and must be ready for an immediate start.

Job description

We are looking for a commercially minded HR Advisor who can deliver a proactive HR generalist service to our client. The role will also provide support to other areas of the business where required for other HR matters from time to time.

You will provide support and Advise and support managers and staff with day-to-day employee relations matters including disciplinary, capability, grievance, performance management and probation matters, ensuring company policies are followed and risks managed appropriately. The role will be based across 2 sites.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting the site Director and local management teams within area of responsibility to deliver divisional targets and objectives.
  • Coach, educate and support managers on HR Policies, procedures and legislation
  • Support with employee relations activity, including but not limited to investigation, disciplinary, grievance and capability processes, guiding managers through necessary processes within a timely manner.
  • Support managers and oversee the absence management and triggers management within the areas of responsibility ensuring appropriate action including the arranging of disciplinary processes and relevant documentation produced.
  • Support the HR Business Partner in initiating and facilitating change and business improvement activity in line with the Group People Plan and local People Plans in place.
  • Maintain working relationships with Trade Unions, attending local meetings within respective areas and supporting with annual pay discussions where appropriate.
  • Update and maintain HR information system data
  • Write and present information briefings on a range of HR related topics
  • Support with Policy development and management guidance contributing to continuous improvement of HR systems and processes.
  • Consult on issues related to workplace relations and performance management
  • Contribute to working project groups in delivery of People Plan
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion supporting an inclusive culture.
  • Any other responsibilities deemed suitable to the role and where trained to do so

This role

This role is a contract for 6 mths and would suit someone looking for an immediate start. You will have previous experience of working as an HR Advisor within a Unionised environment and have the ability to do the below

  • Attain, and keep updated, a working knowledge of relevant HR policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Experience in interpreting, advising and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience in providing advice and support to Senior Managers on strategic matters.
