Job Description

As the HR Advisor, you will be responsible for setting up a successful HR department with a focus on providing day-to-day HR operational and transactional support across the business. You will build strong relationships across all departments and act as a first point of contact for general HR and payroll queries, together with assisting and supporting the Senior Leadership Team.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR and Payroll queries, managing the HR mailbox on a daily basis.
  • Provide support for recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Produce all correspondence and relevant documentation relating to the employee life cycle, including offer letters, reference requests, changes in terms and conditions of employment, and resignation acknowledgements.
  • Check and process all induction paperwork, ensuring right to work checks are completed and flag any concerns to the hiring manager.
  • Process company benefits for employees.
  • Manage absence and performance issues.
  • Update and implement new policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the HR database.
  • Assist in the submission of grant claims and support the Finance Director with CITB levy and Apprenticeship levy administration.
  • Maintain good working relations with all stakeholders, ensuring a discreet, diplomatic approach to ER issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate HR projects such as training and development programs.
  • Handle employee relations issues including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and regulations.
  • Participate in the development and execution of HR strategies.

The Successful Applicant

The successful HR Advisor should have:

  • Several years of experience operating in an HR Advisory capacity.
  • An undergraduate degree in human resources or a related field.
  • Knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling employee relations issues.
  • You must be able to work on-site 5 days a week.
