Role: HR Advisor

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £26,870 and £31,415 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are currently seeking a HR Advisor to join our Human Resources and Payroll department at The Bedford College Group. As a HR Advisor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Employee Relations Support – Act as first point of contact for HR queries, providing professional advice on employment matters including absence, probation, performance, and contractual issues in line with legislation and TBCG policies.
  • HR Administration & Systems – Manage operational HR tasks such as contract changes, resignations, payroll updates, and referencing; maintain accurate records in HR systems and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Casework & Meeting Support – Assist with ER casework including note-taking, pack preparation, and coordination of meetings (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, flexible working), ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
  • Reporting & Compliance – Run and track HR reports, monitor appraisal and pay review processes, and support statutory requests (e.g. SARs, FOIs) while maintaining organised and compliant personnel files.
  • Team Collaboration & Development – Contribute to HR projects, attend college-wide events, support open days, and engage in continuous professional development aligned with TBCG values and statutory duties.
About You
  • Qualifications & Experience: CIPD Level 3 or Business Admin qualification, GCSEs in English and Maths (A–C), with experience in HR or recruitment, employee relations, and working in high-pressure environments.
  • Technical & Administrative Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems, with strong numeracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage sensitive data confidentially.
  • Communication & Customer Service: Excellent verbal and written communication, proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, and ability to build professional relationships across all levels.
  • Organisation & Problem Solving: Skilled in prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and making sound decisions within authority levels, while maintaining professionalism and a team-focused attitude.
  • Values & Flexibility: Committed to TBCG values, safeguarding, and EDI; willing to travel across campuses, adapt to changing workloads, and continuously develop personal knowledge and skills.
