We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factories, all the way to the customer door. We have major processing sites across England and Wales, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we pride ourselves on our approach to investing in our people across Avara Foods. We are seeking a highly competent and motivated HR Advisor to join our HR team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity, based at our Brackley site.


The role is office-based, working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment that can be noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00, with flexibility required to support our twilight colleagues.

What will you be doing as a HR Advisor at Avara?

You will ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective HR service to all internal and external stakeholders, providing comprehensive and professional support on all people-related issues in line with our policies, processes, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice on ER matters, ensuring investigations, grievances, and disciplinary hearings are conducted in line with company policies.
  • Guide managers on our Absence Policy and Procedures, supporting review meetings.
  • Manage long-term absences proactively, including referrals to Occupational Health.
  • Be the first point of contact for maternity, paternity, adoption, and flexible working cases.
  • Process new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
  • Support managers with probation reviews.
  • Assist with ethical audits and HR-related projects.
  • Respond to telephone and email queries.
  • Conduct exit interviews, record data, and analyze trends.
  • Support the Resourcing department and line managers with recruitment interviews.
  • Help with the company's induction program for new starters.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful:
  • Up-to-date experience and confidence in using Microsoft Office and HR packages.
  • Good knowledge of employment law.
  • CIPD qualification or working towards it is desirable.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
  • A drive to improve performance and deliver results.
  • Methodical with attention to detail and working at pace.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • High personal integrity, demonstrating respect and empathy.
  • Unionized environment experience is beneficial but not essential.
