We are searching for an experienced HR Advisor at our Belfast facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

RPS is looking for an HR Advisor to join the UK team to be based in Belfast . You will focus on providing a generalist HR service to support our UK & Ireland Consulting Division. We would like to hear from candidates who have an existing level of HR experience and good knowledge of HR best practice already.

What you’ll be doing

As HR Advisor, you’ll provide advisory support and casework and you’ll also be acting as an ambassador for the business. Working on your own initiative, you’ll be pro-active in providing support to the business in the day-to-day management of all employees, to enable the business to manage effectively. By building effective professional relationships with your key stakeholders, you will establish yourself as a credible advisor.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Advisory support

To provide the business with a visible and accessible point of contact for HR queries and advice, maintaining an open-door approach.

To act as the HR first point of contact for the business, providing effective, accurate and timely professional HR advice and support to key stakeholders/line managers, ensuring guidance is in line with employment law and best practice. This relates to all people related matters, including performance management, absence management, welfare and employee relations cases.

To support the embedding of the company-wide performance review process including the delivery of training.

To support the embedding, practice and recognition award of company behaviours

To respond to HR queries and manage all aspects of issues across the employee lifecycle and support the respective HR Business Partner(s) and HRD(s) with their business responsibilities.

To coach, support and build capability in line managers to manage the employment relationship effectively and guide managers on company policies and procedures as required

To proactively maintain up to date knowledge of current and new employment legislation

To support the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, ensuring that these are up to date and relevant.

Casework

To act as an ambassador for the business, the role will involve working on your own initiative and being pro-active in the day-to-day management of all employees to enable the business to manage effectively.

To support and guide managers with end-to-end case management for all employee relation cases including grievance and disciplinary hearings, probations, capability/performance management, ill-health, absence management ensuring appropriate application of employment law consideration and approach and timely closure of such cases.

To coordinate and participate in monthly case reviews with the HR Team to identify key themes for improvement and identification of issues and trends within the business.

To support change initiatives, including acquisitions, restructures, redundancies, TUPE, redeployment and office closures

To work with the respective HR Business Partner to provide commercially focused advice and support to Managers on all Employee Relations issues.

Other

Produce Monthly HR reports and HR statistics as required

Provide ad-hoc people-related data to the business director to assist with local initiatives and activities.

Manage staff absence and carry out return to work interviews.

To work collaboratively with the Office Manager to support local initiatives that support employee engagement.

Build strong professional effective relationships with key stakeholders with regular professional liaison and establish yourself as a credible advisor.

To take ownership and responsibility for ad-hoc projects which help the local office, HR team and the company move forward.

To support Line managers and the Recruitment team during the interview and selection process.

Working collaboratively with HR colleagues to ensure effective business continuity during periods of absence.

Work closely with the HR Shared Service team to ensure the business receives an efficient and high-quality service

Conduct/assist with exit interviews and trends as and when required.

Who we’re looking for

HR degree educated (or related field qualification equivalent), or equivalent experience

CIPD status (Associate member minimum)

Commitment to continuous professional development

Experience of working in a HR capacity with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, tailored HR Support. Must have practical experience of managing employee relations within the scope of legislation and best practice.

Ability to work collaboratively with support functions and stakeholders to produce deliverables that add value to the business.

Demonstrable success working in a HR capacity in a fast-paced environment. Experience of working in Professional services is preferable.

Must have an up to date understanding of employment law and HR Best Practice.

Ability to coach less experienced managers

Ability to act as a critical thinker, finding solutions to complex issues

Experience working equally well independently as well as part of a team

Excellent communications skills, both written and spoken.

Ability to build strong, effective working relationships at all levels

Ability to influence decision making within the stakeholder group

Takes a commercial and practical approach to providing business solutions.

Resilient and self-reliant with the ability to work in a self-sufficient manner

Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility when dealing with key stakeholders.

Excellent organisation/time management skills

Full UK drivers’ licence, as travel across UK locations may be a requirement
