Kepak Red Meat UK operates from three sites within the UK. McIntosh Donald, in Aberdeen, Merthyr Tydfil in Wales and our Bodmin site in Cornwall.

What to expect working as an HR Advisor at Kepak McIntosh Donald:

  • You will be based at our site in Portlethen which is a beef and lamb product production site, with approximately 350 employees and a 5 day operation.
  • Provide expert HR advice to managers and employees.
  • Support employee relations, engagement, and well-being initiatives.
  • Drive HR projects and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices.
  • Work in a small, collaborative and supportive HR team, comprising of Recruitment, Training and Development and HR Advisory, reporting directly to the HR Manager.

As an HR Advisor you will:

  • Oversee Employee Relations cases from start to finish, which encompasses investigations, disciplinary actions, grievance handling, capability assessments, flexible working arrangements, absence management, and performance evaluations. You'll coach line managers and supervisors while offering practical advice throughout each stage of the process.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and establish yourself as a trusted advisor, positively influencing approaches and behaviours in alignment with company standards and best practices.
  • Take the initiative to enhance people management skills within the site management team, empowering line managers and supervisors to manage personnel matters with confidence and independence.
  • Continuously seek out opportunities for streamlining processes and improving efficiencies within the department and site.
  • Lead various ad-hoc projects as they arise, which will include data collection, research, and analysis.
  • Assist the HR Manager in executing annual HR initiatives such as salary reviews, succession planning, and employee surveys.

Working hours are 37.5hrs/week, Monday to Friday, site based with some flexibility for home working.

Requirements

  • Minimum of several years' experience in generalist HR at the Advisor level is a must, preferably within a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • CIPD qualification is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for providing a proactive, operations-driven, and value-enhancing HR service to the organization.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and diplomacy is essential.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is crucial, including skills in proofreading and editing.
  • A solid understanding of integrity and compliance is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively engage with individuals at all levels within multi-national environments.
  • Resilience and adaptability when navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities, while maintaining a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • A proven relationship builder with strong influencing skills.
  • Robust IT proficiency, particularly in HRIS and Office applications, such as Word, SharePoint, and Excel.
